Tanks

We have another radio show under our belts. And yesterday...we spoke out against the war in Iraq and talked about all the metaphors of death and destruction and how America really Loves it's killers and its machines of death.

The fleet is coming to town, and violence against women will be on the rise for those few days or weeks or whatever it is. I rarely pay attention to the Rose Festival anymore and its celebration of the things that kill so I no longer know how long these folks are in town. No doubt troops are patrolling the festival ready to kill Americans at the first sign of not obeying the master. I'm sure, as I saw a few weeks ago, the machine gun boats will be patrolling the Willamette ready to kill anyone who gets out of line. And yes, they are HEAVILY ARMED, and yes, these weapons will be around many children. But let's not pay attention to that mass slaughter at the ready. Let's protect our children from the most truly destructive thing in this world...the word "fuck."

There will be a tank in the Rose Parade this year. You don't have to go to the river to celebrate the machines of death, our children will get to experience them right in the streets. And David Liberty told us a story about how he, dressed in traditional clothing, marched in a parade with a single shot 22. And how a US tank pulled up beside him and he drew down on them, but they drew down on him with the 4" gaping hole of death and laughed that there gun was bigger than his. Perfect metaphor for America. Outgun folks, kill lots of them when they are outgunned. Never fight a fair fight. The U.S. didn't do that with the Indians, they aren't doing that with Iraq or Afghanistan or anyone else. They aren't brave enough to fight in a fair fight because they are not true nor just.

Well, I guess that's about it for now. Hang in there folks and build community. I Love ya!
