Current AP on Israel's Military actions in Gaza
Israeli military pummels Palestinians as it seeks soldier, and Palestinian group claims it kidnapped another Israeli
A Palestinian group aligned with the Fatah Party says it has abducted another Israeli.
A statement obtained by the Associated Press says the Al-aqsa Martyrs' Brigades is holding a 62-year-old man abducted Monday.
On Sunday Hamas abducted an Israeli soldier.
Palestinian fighters also claim to be holding a missing West Bank settler.
Israel turned up the pressure to release the captive soldier, sending its warplanes to bomb a Hamas training camp [define "hamas training camp"]after knocking out electricity and water supplies for most of the 1.3 million residents of Gaza Strip.
The Hamas-led Palestinian government called for a prisoner swap with Israel, saying the Gaza offensive would not secure the soldiers's release.
Tensions escalated today as the military fired artillery near Gaza City - the first time Israel has targeted that area during the offensive. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Palestinians dug in behind walls and embankments, preparing for a major strike after Israel sent in troops and tanks and bombarded bridges and a power station. Warplanes fired missiles in northern and southern Gaza.
[I read that 3 Palestinians were killed in their Monday raid where they kidnapped the Israeli soldier, as well as the two Israeli soldiers killed.]
