Sovereignty

In the Siletz tribal concstitution, it states that we basically bow to the will of the United States Government. In order to be "recognized" by the U.S. government, we have to defer the determination of our people to the U.S. government. The fact that we have to be "recognized" by the same government that has tried to wipe our people off the face of the earth is NOT sovereignty. How can it be?

In the 50's, Dwight Eisenhower moved forward the "termination" effort by "terminating" many of the smaller tribal nations. This move was genocidal at its core. Can I go to France and simply declare the French no longer exist, but are now Siletz and Blackfoot and will be FORCED to act accordingly? No. The French are a sovereign nation and what right do I have to tell the French what constitutes them as a nation or not?

All the "re-recognized" tribes have a basic outline for their tribal constitutions, written by a white man member of the U.S. governmental organization. Various Indian nations will flesh it out with a few of the alleged independent determinations, which, again, have to be approved by the United States government before they can be implemented. That is NOT sovereignty.

However, the U.S. gave itself the right to "terminate" its indigenous populations. For 20 years, many Indians were made "no longer to exist" as Indians by the simple stroke of the pen. I sure wish I could do that to the Bush administration.

"I declare you, oh horrific and genocidal Bush Administration, to no longer exist on my land, nor anyform of you genocidal allged democratic government. That includes all government officials, all forms of your genocidal democratic bureacracies, etc. You no longer exist, and neither do your corporate owners."

OK. Give me a second, I'm gonna go look outside to see if anything has changed...be right back!

.......

Nope! Still rainy and wet and still occupied by the genocidal forces of the U.S. government.

Just like the U.S. said we no longer existed as Indians (I was born during that non-existence, by the way) we were always Indians. The U.S. government, no matter how horrifically genocidal it is whether republican or democrat operated, still occupies MY land, even though I just declared them as non-existent. Interesting.

However, our Indian governments, corrupt or otherwise, ALWAYS bow to the genocidal U.S. government. We recognize the U.S. government as our master, otherwise, they will willingly destroy us again, whether with the stroke of a pen or the crack of the gun, and we know that.

That is why I am willing to flip off the owners of our sovereignty. We are not sovereign as long as our independence depends on being "recognized" by the genocidal forces of the U.S.

HEY, GENOCIDAL U.S. GOVERNMENT! FUCK YOU ALL AND YOUR CORPORATE OWNERS!
