NCAI and BIA pledge to help Indians and other victims of hurricane
The Nationa Congress of American Indians and the Bureau of Indian Affairs have pledged to help Native and non-Native victims of Hurrican Katrina. The Choctaw of Mississippi are the hardest hit of the tribes in the area.
Many tribes have opened doors to convention centers or other large venues they have to refugees, and in many cases, hundreds of Indians who lived in New Orleans are now refugees on their reservations and have nothing.
The NCAI is headed by Tex Hall. Tex, a former banker, is as corrupt as they come, according to the moccasin telegraph. As most Indians know, the BIA was set up to help "solve the persistent Indian problem." The problem being that we exist. They have also lost billions of dollars and are known as the most corrupt breau in the U.S. Government. Nothing has been done, or ever will be done, to change this. So, how helpful will these organizations be to Indians or others only time will tell.
